About Us

At Team Anstey we have a variety of training sessions to suit all needs. Currently we run group sessions that start from 6:00pm to 6:30pm depending on popularity.

We train every Tuesday and Thursday. Our meeting points are mostly based at Anstey Jubilee Hall.

On Tuesdays we offer a pacing session where we work on our speed strength and stamina, or you can choose to do a hills session or join a 20 minute Out and Back group.

On Thursdays we do a group 30 minute Out and Back or planned running activities around the village, for example a compass run where we meet at a crossroad and run in the direction of compass points and back.

We post all our training sessions on our Team Anstey Amblers and Runners Facebook page. The group is only accessible to members or if you are considering joining us and have completed our next of kin form Beginners Next of Kin.

We encourage members to organise runs between themselves over the weekends. Our Facebook page is a great way to arrange these runs as well as making new friends.
Beginners can have four taster sessions of your choice then if you enjoy the sessions we ask you to join the club as a member.

We also have beginners groups that go in 10 - 12 week cycles for those who have no experience, going from couch to 5k. This concludes with a club Parkrun at Watermead Country Park on the final Saturday of the training programme. Check out the C25K Groups page for more details.

We always start with a 5-10 minute dynamic warm up in order to help avoid injuries during training. At the end of every session there will be the opportunity for a variety of stretches, led by one of the Run Leaders. Although we cannot guarantee you won't feel sore the next day, by starting off and finishing your training session with a good warm up and cool down you'll be in the best shape going forward.

We want to ensure safety for everyone so recommend the appropriate clothing and footwear for the conditions. We also encourage leaving the earphones at home - cars can hurt!

The winter also brings the dark nights with it, so remember to dress bright in high-vis and remember those head torches! Happy running!

Our History

Our ethos is to support, encourage, motivate and inspire our team members to reach their desired goals and aspirations.

Team Anstey Amblers and Runners was formed by Geoff Roberts with the clubs first meeting on 30th October 2014. Geoff wanted to form a club that is open and inclusive. We are not focused on who can run the fastest or farthest. Although running can feel like a solo effort, we truly are a team and focus on supporting all our members.

We strive to continuously evolve and be a pro-active running club. We are affiliated with England Athletics and the Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL).

Whatever your reasons, for wanting to train we can help you. Begin your journey with us...

And think about why you started.
